Perry Pot at Itchenor Sailing Club – Day 2

02 Dec Perry Pot at Itchenor Sailing Club – Day 2

Seven 14’s turned up for Sunday’s Perry Pot series was sailed in 15 knots with the sun shining down on a beautiful and empty Chichester harbour. The course was set by ex-14er Roger Yeoman in the cold north-westerly breeze.

Three races back to back saw significant place changing in each race but by the end it was the same two who made it to the front with Neale Jones and Ed Fitzgerald scoring three wins despite a few battles with Archie Massey and Harvey Hillary who took 2nds and Kimball Morrison and Jeremy Fowke put in a great show to give a consistent score of 3rds across the board. The short course format is ideal for 14’s winter sailing keeping the 10 boat fleet in close competition and the crews working hard in the cold north westerly breeze.

With only 3 Sundays left the leader board is starting to hot up with Jones and Fitzgerald at the front but with the pack chasing fast with consistency being key with the autumnal conditions ranging from 30 knots to 3 knots from weekend to weekend.

The next Perry Pot is on 3rd December and already has a great long range forecast and the potential of VR sport turning up to catch all the action, this is one not to be missed.
