1. Association Fees

Old boat discount – propose to align with old boat prize at POW – Louise to distribute data, supporting split approximately around pre-Bieker 4, which coincides with a particular year (tbd). Will need to put to a vote at AGM, and will affect next year’s fees.

2. Events through year:

Results – continue with contribution from 2nd placed boat. Deadline – Tuesday after the event for Y&Y, Sail-World, Daily Sail, Website.

Primary requirement is to record results for top 3 boats, except for harbour series, where all results need to be confirmed & recorded on website.

Explore sail wave – question, do we need full record of results?

3. Communication

Mailing lists: Two mailing lists are becoming well supported. National and Chichester harbour mailing list.

Website – Hull page most looked at, but no content at the moment; Ed has boat descriptions to add. Suggest running commentary on new boat build (Douglas / George / Mark). Katie following up. Overall, 1200 visitors to date, 800 unique visitors.

Boat list – for sale & wanted page, 200 characters maximum at the moment. To be revised by Rich. 5 photos. Easy to use, 3 month expiry to keep it up to date.

International 14 World website – Colin Smith helping with content; class rules, who’s who on the World Council. ISAF information. National Committee’s and plus mugshots. Same mugshots for UK website.

4. POW 2010

DR / AP / EC, organising committee. NOR soon to come out. Talking around race schedule, asking if race numbers can be linked to expected wind conditions – eg 1 race on really windy days, 2 days on moderate days, 3 on lighter days. Provide guidelines for race officer and daily briefing. POW race on Friday.

Socials – plan in progress; BBQ on Easthead Thursday, Itchenor Friday evening. Saturday night Hayling with POW prizegiving. Sunday – final prizegiving at Hayling.

5. Worlds 2011 (Caroline Gosford reports)

Pricing – going around the loop with Weymouth on pricing, particularly discussing socials. WPNSA keen to host as much as possible and this is being reflected in pricing; Committee looking for a balance; pursuing idea of a marquee on the front for beer after sailing and central point for the regatta.

Aiming for two socials and final dinner in the entry fee.

Lots of discussion in Sydney, so energy and volunteers behind project, but CG still to tie down activity.

Accommodation – propose people look for accommodation in Weymouth; offers of help to co-ordinate in Sydney; CG to follow up.

UK reps for each country; need a year ahead at least.

Master list – of who does what, request UK committee rubber stamp key policy decisions.

CG – holding the project plan.

Sponsorship – would be good to have an overall sponsorship; MJ following up. Small sponsors may be more forthcoming, eg number of small sponsors to cover specifics. Propose a second team is appointed to look at item specific sponsorship eg prizes, after race beers.

Overall plan: CG to bring draft proposal for next committee meeting (mid May), to bring us all up to speed.

6. 14 History

Tom – very keen to republish history. Total support from Committee. Louise meeting with Tom in next couple of weeks to look at detail and identify help required. Would be great to persuade ex 14ers to help as much as possible.

7. 2012 POW

Marazian – may be too late for 2012; could we do 2013 (early to accommodate Canadian Worlds) – or 2014 (may be better). Ed Clay following up.

Torquay – have approached us for 2012, Ed following up, but not keen to share with a race week.

Restronguet – Katie has an open invitation. Fowey is also in consideration.

8. Mainsail Rules

Vote approved internationally (by US, UK, CAN abstained). World Council have concerns about implementation and degree of consultation with other countries during forming of UK proposal. World Council has not taken proposed rule change to ISAF; so rule change has not gone through. Rules will not change on 1st March.

World Council has appointed a working party to revisit the wording and address three points of contention. (1) Technical wording to enable measurement. (2) Exact value of the increased area and (3) Ability of sail making software to work with the changed rule.

9. AOB

None!
