POW Day 2

04 Nov POW Day 2

International 14 POW Week Day 2 – Hunstanton Plate

Light winds greeted the fleet for day 2 of the 77th Prince of Wales Cup week.  5-6 knots of wind saw the modern 14 fleet twin wiring upwind and so despite the light conditions the fleet romped away.  At the first mark Andy & Tom Partington led the fleet from Mark Upton Brown and Phil Kennard.  By the second beat the fleet had settled down with Katie Nurton and Nigel Ash hitting the front closely followed by  team Partington then Douglas Pattison and Mark Tait.

The 2nd race of the day was delayed due to the light and shifty breeze.  The combined patience of the race officer and fleet resulted in the start getting away after 2 recalls in a 6-8 knot breeze. A large shift up the first beat favouring the left side saw Alistair Richardson & Dan Johnson hit the front and distance themselves before the finish.

At the end of the day consistency pulled through with Tom Heywood & Ed Clay recording a 4th & 2nd to win the day and thus the Hunstanton Plate
